Two Norfolk Southern Trains Meet at Belvoir, VA

My first railfanning trip was in November 2017. I had met a few other guys who enjoyed the hobby with one of them volunteering to show me a few places where I can watch trains in the local area.  

The trip answered quite a few questions with one of them being how come there are single tracks in some areas with two tracks in other. I'd never really given it much thought. One rail is considered the main line while the other is a siding. The siding is used to allow another train to pass through. 

At Belvoir, VA, this particular afternoon another train was waiting on a siding for Norfolk Southern locomotive 8862 to pass through the area. Once it did, the other train started.

This train was a manifest that has always been my favorite to watch. I like the variety. Unlike an intermodal, which has car after car of containers, the manifest has a variety of hoppers, boxcars, tanker cars just to name a few.
